St. Alphonsus regulars defend parish as the best fish fry in West Michigan

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Every Friday during Lent, lines stretch through the halls of St. Alphonsus Catholic Parish as hungry guests wait for one of the area’s most popular fish fries. Some visitors say the wait is worth it.

“Well let’s see, I got here at at 4:30 so it’s been 45 minutes,” said Duncan MacLachlan, whose wife is part of the fish fry team.
