Man runs from Grand Haven to Grand Rapids to honor U.S. servicemembers, raise awareness for veteran suicide

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A man ran 35 miles from Grand Haven to downtown Grand Rapids on Sunday while carrying the American flag to honor U.S. servicemembers and raise awareness of those who have died by suicide.

This is Zach Baker’s second time doing the run, which he said is meant to honor the families of people who have died by suicide in the military, to raise awareness for veterans who have died by suicide and to honor all veterans and current U.S. servicemembers.

Although not a veteran himself, Baker’s grandfather served in the Navy, and the cause is one he’s passionate about…
