Macy’s At Rivertown Mall Is Closed: Here’s How It Looks Empty

The Rivertown Mall has changed a lot since I was a kid in the early 2000s. My parents would bring me to play at this magic treehouse to burn off some energy after church each Sunday, and because of the time I spent there growing up, the mall holds a special place in my life.

Many of the big-name stores, like Sears and Younkers, that were major draws when the mall opened, have been shut down for well over a decade and converted into new attractions, such as a trampoline park. But now another staple of the mall, Macy’s, is closing at the end of this week, and it is eerie in there.

The massive, two-floor store is nearly completely empty for the first time since 1999 (then called Hudson’s), and it’s pretty wild to see a place that used to be so full of life so barren. So, before Macy’s closed for good, I went for one more stroll around the store.
