The weekend of March 13th saw Grand Rapids dealing with severe weather, from rain to strong winds. It ended up being strong enough to topple a massive tree onto the park’s fenced-in area, knocking down a fence and a light pole. The City of Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation announced that, as a result, the park would be closed until further notice.
Well, it looks like that notice is going to be longer than expected. The Forestry division successfully removed the massive tree and its stump, but that was only the beginning. As the Parks and Rec department figures out how to repair the fencing, lighting, and electrical damage, the park will remain closed until further notice.…
