Grand Rapids suburb’s water use triples in summer. Officials want residents to cut back

GEORGETOWN TWP., MI – The pristine, lush green lawns in a Grand Rapids suburb are creating infrastructure issues for the township due to some residents’ significantly high water use for lawn irrigation in the summer.

Georgetown Township is hoping to change residential water use habits through a new, voluntary community sprinkling schedule that aims to reduce the amount of water used for people’s lawns.
