Charges in Deanie Peters case dropped, but man says suspicions linger

CALEDONIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The only person ever charged in connection to the 1981 disappearance of 14-year-old Deanie Peters says some still look at him with suspicion even after the charges against him were recently dismissed.

“There’s always that little bit of space inside everyone’s head,” James Frisbie told News 8 on Monday. “It’s like, ‘Could he have?’ Wow. But not me.”

Frisbie, 66, was charged with perjury in a homicide investigation, a potential life offense, and with resisting police during his arrest. He was never accused of having any involvement in the disappearance.

Peters was 14 in February 1981 when she disappeared from her brother’s wrestling practice at Forest Hills Central Middle School. Her body has never been found.

Frisbie said he’d never met the girl. The sign company owner said he was only trying to help when he called Kent County sheriff’s detectives…
