Nonprofit senior care facilities seek property tax exemptions, push Michigan House bills

LANSING, Mich. — Michigan’s population is aging, and the need for care has never been greater, but some of the facilities that house seniors are looking to Lansing for help as they face property tax burdens.

Nonprofit continuing care retirement communities, like Holland Home in Kentwood, can be found across Michigan, giving independence and security to seniors.

“Our promise of care is real and the quality we pursue is a demonstration of what should be possible across all care settings for older adults across Michigan,” Adam Kinder, chief financial officer at Holland Home, said.
