Grand Rapids woman who battled leukemia organizes 10th annual blood drive to give back

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Just days before her 11th birthday, Tegan Rose was diagnosed with leukemia.

As she battled the cancer, her family learned firsthand about facing blood shortages in hospitals when it’s needed for care. In the first two years of treatment, Rose used about 17 units of blood — blood that wasn’t always guaranteed.

Now 20 years old, Rose and her family are organizing their 10th annual blood drive to make sure others have blood when they need it…
