Largest 25K road race in the U.S. returns to Michigan this weekend

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — The Amway River Bank Run returns to Grand Rapids this Saturday, marking its 49th year.

Tens of thousands of people are expected in downtown Grand Rapids for what has become the largest 25K road race in the country, drawing everyone from elite athletes to casual spectators.

The event, held each year on the second Saturday of May, will feature multiple race options including the USA 25 km open championships, 25K handcycle, 25K wheelchair, 10K run, 5K run and 5K community walk.

All of the races begin downtown on Ottawa Avenue and the finish line will be set up at Monroe Avenue and Pearl Street.

  • 5K run: 7 a.m.
  • 10K run: 7:30 a.m.
  • 5K community walk: 7:45 a.m.
  • 25K handcycle division: 8:15 a.m.
  • 25K wheelchair racing division: 8:16 a.m.
  • 25K run elite women: 8:20 a.m.
  • 25K run elite men: 8:30 a.m.
  • 25K run: 8:30 a.m.
  • 25K run My Team Triumph: 8:45 a.m.

Runners who complete the race will receive a medal at the finish line…
