These West Michigan high schoolers are about to prove they can save lives under intense pressure

KALAMAZOO, MI — Three high school teams affiliated with Life EMS Ambulance Innovation and Education Centre will compete Thursday, May 7, in the inaugural Michigan High School EMS Skills Challenge in Kalamazoo, joining 11 other teams from across the state.

The teams from Innovation Central High School, Kent Career Technical Center and Grandville High School will face simulated emergency scenarios and complete a written assessment to demonstrate their ability to deliver life-saving care under pressure.

The competition runs from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center in Kalamazoo, with an awards ceremony scheduled for approximately 1 p.m. The top three teams will be recognized during the opening session of the 2026 EMS Expo, Michigan’s largest EMS trade show and education conference…
