GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A former Navy and Marine Corps Reserve Center in Grand Rapids is up for sale, the U.S. General Services Administration announced Wednesday.
The bidding for the $1.5-million property has already begun and ends in 55 days, on July 15, according to a countdown on the federal government’s real estate website. The sale is in an effort to “consolidate the federal real estate portfolio,” the GSA wrote in a release.

The 3.47-acre plot, located at 1863 Monroe Ave. NW on the riverfront, holds a two-story reserve center, a garage and storage building and the former armory. It used to be the Naval and Marine Corps Center but has been vacant for about five years.
The sale of the land will save American taxpayers about $350,000 in annual operating costs and $27 million in cost avoidance, the GSA said…
