Driver dead after hitting pedestrians, sinks into retention pond in Bellevue

BELLEVUE (WLUK) — The driver of a vehicle died after they struck two pedestrians and drove into a Bellevue retention pond.

Just before 6 p.m. Wednesday, deputies were dispatched to an area of Westminster Drive and Salisbury Street for multiple calls of a vehicle and pedestrian crash. Callers stated following the crash the vehicle drove into a nearby pond and began to sink.

Several individuals, including a Brown County Sheriff’s Office deputy, entered the water to try to rescue the driver, but were unsuccessful…
