GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – A lot on South Broadway, the former home of the Badger Sheet Metal Company, has sat empty for just over a year. It is one of several empty lots across the city that have become industrial brownfields, spaces once used for industrial purposes that have since become abandoned and can contain pollutants and hazardous waste.
Some of these spaces in Green Bay are set to receive an upgrade.
EPA grant funds testing of five sites
A $500,000 grant from the Environmental Protection Agency will pay for testing and inventorying multiple brownfield sites in Green Bay, allowing city planners to safely redevelop the areas.
