WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – Communities across Wisconsin are holding memorial events this weekend to mark 25 years since the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Merrill: Remembrance ceremony at City Hall
The City of Merrill will hold a remembrance ceremony Friday, September 11, at Merrill City Hall, 1004 E. First Street, honoring the lives lost and those who responded following the September 11, 2001, attacks.
The ceremony will include remarks from Merrill Mayor Steve Hass and Lincoln County Board Vice Chair Jesse Boyd, with the Honor Guard present. Bells will ring at 7:46 a.m., marking the time the first plane struck the World Trade Center. Attendees are asked to arrive by 7:30 a.m.
Plover: Fire department memorial walk
Members of the Plover Fire Department will hold a 9/11 Memorial Walk on Friday, September 11, to mark the 25th anniversary of the attacks.
Participants will walk 2,200 steps, representing the 110 stories of the World Trade Center towers, around the Village of Plover 9/11 Memorial. The walk will be held in two sessions: nine laps at 9 a.m. and 11 laps at 5 p.m. Community members are welcome to join for any portion of the walk.
Tomahawk: Annual tribute at Veterans Memorial Park
