MANITOWOC — Manitowoc police found and recovered the body of a 30-year-old man Tuesday morning from the Manitowoc River near the Eighth Street bridge.
Police said in a news release Tuesday afternoon that police, Manitowoc Fire Rescue Department and Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office met at the Eighth Street Bridge Tuesday morning to search for a missing Manitowoc man.
Police said his family had reported the man missing Monday and told police he was last seen in the area of the bridge during the early morning hours Sunday.
The release said the dive team used an underwater sonar scanner to locate the body near the bridge. The body was then recovered from the river.
Police do not suspect foul play in the man’s death, but the investigation is ongoing. Police did not release the man’s name and no further details were expected to be released.
Police concluded their news release stating: “The Manitowoc Police Department extends our deepest condolences to the man’s family and those that have been affected as a result of this tragic incident.”
