The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is holding a public meeting on February 12, 2024. The focus will be on managing northern pike and yellow perch in Green Bay. The meeting is part of a six-part series on fisheries management and will take place at the DNR Field Office in Peshtigo, Wisconsin. It will also be available on Zoom.
DNR Fisheries Biologist, Tammie Paoli, will lead the meeting. She will discuss the life history and spawning migrations of northern pike in Green Bay. She will also share the results of a 2023 survey on pike, including data on their size, age, and long-term trends in catch and harvest. The future of the pike fishery in Green Bay will also be discussed.
The meeting will also cover the population status of yellow perch. Survey results and harvest trends for yellow perch will be presented. The goal of the meeting is to provide detailed information on managing these two key fish species in Green Bay.
The meeting will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. and is part of the DNR’s Spotlight Series. This series focuses on various fisheries in Green Bay and inland waters in the northeast. It aims to involve the public in discussions about fisheries management and conservation in the region.
