YSU drops heart-breaker to first place Green Bay

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – YSU men’s basketball lost in the final seconds to Horizon League Conference leader, Green Bay Phoenix, 84-83.

The Penguins were up 83-81 with two seconds left in regulation before Green Bays’ Foster Wonders hit the go-ahead three-pointer for the win.

In the loss, YSU’s DJ Burns boasted another double-double, scoring 32 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. Burns was backed up by Brett Thompson who scored 23 points and E.J. Farmer off the bench with 11.

YSU falls to (18-8) overall and (10-5) in conference, while Green Bay advances with a record of (17-9) and (12-3) in conference play.

Next, YSU plays Robert Morris (9-15) at home on Wednesday, Feb. 14.
