MANITOWOC – Many of us are fascinated by spooky stories — we love huddling around a campfire, listening to tales about mysterious strangers, shapeshifting animals and gruesome murders.
So, I was surprised when only one man was brave enough to answer our call for the spookiest Manitowoc County urban legends.
Paul Krause used to live in the village of Mishicot, but these days he calls the Ozarks home. In his email to us, he describes an afternoon that starts out as normal as any, but ends with him overcome with a creepy feeling after meeting his own mysterious stranger in the woods.
Here is his story in his own words:
I feel this story needs to be told to the community of Mishicot. I live in the Ozarks at this time and have told the events of that sunny September day in 1983 to many people here in the Ozarks. They all ask the same question: Have you told the people of that community this story? With the same reply over and over again: No, I have not. This story may change the way little Mishicot feels about its community. You asked for it, so here goes.
