Green Bay election: Democrats’ watch party holds out hope as results roll in

GREEN BAY – Democrats in Green Bay continued to stay anxiously optimistic as they awaited results for Green Bay area and presidential races Tuesday night.

Voters gathered at a watch party hosted by the Democratic Party of Brown County after polls closed. Ahead of the 8 p.m. start time, over 100 people walked inside Gather on Broadway, 139 N. Broadway, in downtown Green Bay to watch results come in. The crowd peaked around 300 people by the end of the night.

Dressed in “Yes we Kam” shirts, blue bead necklaces and Harris-Walz camo hats, campaign volunteers, voters, and Democratic candidates gathered until midnight at the watch party for the Green Bay-area state Assembly and Senate races, along with the 8th Congressional District and presidential races.

Sherry Lacenski was hopeful at the start of the watch party, noting it would most likely take a couple days to find out official results for the presidential race. Lacenski, 75, came from Denmark to join her friend as results came in.

“I wanted to be with people who shared the same ideas and ideals with me regardless of the outcome,” Lacenski said.
