Here’s what it will cost Green Bay to remove, salvage the Packers Heritage Trail Plaza

GREEN BAY — Green Bay has learned how much it will cost the city to remove the Packers Heritage Trail Plaza from the corner of Washington and Cherry streets.

The city’s Redevelopment Authority on Thursday will consider awarding the job to Miron Construction, selected because the company built the Heritage Trail Plaza in 2013 and it is “uniquely situated to remove and salvage” the plaza for the city, according to a staff report.

The job will cost $109,701, according to Miron’s bid documents. It is not indicated when the work would start.

A city staff report indicates the job involves removing the plaza’s plaques, statues and displays, and transferring them to Packers Heritage Inc., the nonprofit foundation that originally raised the money to install the plaza and commemorative plaques that highlight Green Bay area sites related to Green Bay Packers history.

At the city’s behest, Packers Heritage Inc. in 2012 and 2013 secured private donations to develop the Packers Heritage Trail and the plaza meant to serve as a starting point and attraction for tourists and to promote the community. The city provided the land at the southwest corner of Cherry and Washington streets.
