According to a release, the Port of Green Bay saw 139,876 tons of cargo moved through the port throughout October bringing the yearly tonnage to 1,404,633 tons which is down by about 9% through the same time frame last year.
We experienced a busy shipping month during September, with about 26 ships visiting, only to see things slow down a bit in October with 19 vessels. Like any other shipping season, it’s common to have fluctuations month-to-month as tonnage ebbs and flows, based on regional, national, and global demand.
Dean Haen, Port of Green Bay Director
Haen said that of those 19 vessels that came through the Port of Green Bay, the leading cargo during the month of October was cement with 60,874 tons.
Other cargo coming through the port was 60,424 tons of limestone, 8,615 tons of petroleum products, 7,963 tons of coal, and 2,000 tons of wood pulp.
