Appleton elementary school to be repurposed [AUDIO]

APPLETON, Wis. — Columbus Elementary School in Appleton will be repurposed for another use in the school district.

The Appleton Area School District Board of Education votes 5-2 Monday to find a new use for the nearly 134-year-old school building.

Board member Edward Ruffalo says he understands the longtime attachments neighborhood residents have toward Columbus. However he believes the district, taxpayers and students will benefit long-term from repurposing the building and sending Columbus students to other schools……
