LAYOFFS: Over 500 workers being laid off, 219 permanently at Air Wisconsin Airlines affecting two of Wisconsin’s largest airports

WISCONSIN (WJFW) — Air Wisconsin Airlines is laying off more than 500 workers, impacting two of the state’s largest airports – General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee and Appleton International Airport.

The staff reductions are expected to be temporary for unionized staff (nearly 300) but permanent for management and salaried employees, an email from Air Wisconsin to Department of Workforce Development said.

The total number of employees laid off is 513 with 219 management/salaried employees permanently being laid off and 294 union/represented employees in the state of Wisconsin temporarily furloughed.
