GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – With all the concerns about plastic and microplastics in our environment and our bodies, scientists and manufacturers have been searching for an alternative to conventional petroleum-based plastics.
Enter starch-based plastics made from plants, like corn and potatoes. They’re compostable, biodegradable — a lot more environmentally-friendly.
But a new study says starch-based plastics might not be as safe as first thought — especially to humans…
