Green Bay’s historic Fire Station No. 1 set for redevelopment as commercial space

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The City of Green Bay has announced plans for a major redevelopment of the historic Fire Station No. 1, located at 501 S. Washington Street.

According to a Facebook post from the City of Green Bay, the 90-year-old building, a longtime part of the city’s public safety network, will soon be transformed into commercial space.

The city says a local developer plans to preserve the fire station’s classic exterior while creating room for shops, restaurants, and office space. Retail and food businesses are expected to fill the first floor, with offices above.

This project supports Green Bay’s ongoing downtown revitalization efforts. With fire department operations now moved and a new station and apartment complex planned for South Broadway, city officials say this redevelopment marks an exciting new chapter for the landmark building.
