GREEN BAY (WLUK) — Tonia Piontek pleaded not guilty Monday to allegedly fatally stabbing her fiancé at their Smith Street home.
Piontek, 45, is charged with first-degree intentional homicide for the April 13 incident. No trial date was set. She returns to court Oct. 2 for a status conference.
According to the criminal complaint, Piontek called 911 around 10 p.m. to report she had stabbed the man. An account of the call shows that she told the dispatcher they had both been drinking.
The complaint quotes Piontek as telling the dispatcher: ” …we’ve been fighting, he came at me and.. I often keep a knife nearby to protect myself and he’s just got ya know (inaudible), I didn’t know what else to do he’s a lot bigger than me.”…
