Monday Morning Makeover helps cancer survivor embrace new hair growth

APPLETON (WLUK) — If you or a loved one ever experienced hair loss after cancer treatment, this Monday Morning Makeover might hit home. Holly Kamin of Suamico was diagnosed with breast cancer in October of 2023. She first met stylist Josif Wittnik, of The Salon Professional Academy, at a breast cancer fundraising event. Wittnik created a hair system for her to use when she lost her hair. She wore the wig for about 6 months and said it made her feel more like herself. “It made me feel more put together, more like myself where I wasn’t standing out because I had my hair,” said Kamin.

Now that her hair is growing out, Kamin reached out to Josif for help on what to do with it. Wittnik explained why the hair first grows back curly, but he says, within time, hair returns to its original state. Wittnik also emphasized the importance of scalp health and used a new product he helped develop.

Makeup Artist Cathy Jo Keeley advised Kamin on how to fill in her eyebrows to make them look more natural. For her skin, Keeley used a color corrector from Smashbox. “Holly mentioned that she has some discoloration on her eyelids and this is going to help with that,” said Keeley…
