Bills would make Monarch Butterfly the official state butterfly

APPLETON, WI — The Monarch Butterfly would join the list of official Wisconsin State Symbols to raise public awareness of the insect’s plight.

Legislation is introduced in both the state assembly and state senate to make the Monarch Wisconsin’s state butterfly. The bills were announced at Butterfly Gardens in Appleton, which was founded as a preserve to boost the Monarch population.
