GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Five people were rescued on Lake Michigan after a boat got stranded off the coast of Wisconsin Wednesday.
Coast Guard officials say they were first notified shortly after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. A 55-foot vessel had reportedly lost its rudder and was starting to take on water off the coast near Kewaunee, Wisconsin, about 20 miles east of Green Bay.
A boat from the Sturgeon Bay station and a helicopter from Traverse City rushed to the scene and picked up the five people on board. All five were showing signs of hypothermia. After returning to shore, all five were taken to a local medical center for treatment…
