Green Bay officials mark start of Badger Sheet Metal properties demolition ahead of new development

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The beginning phases of the demolition project at the former Badger Sheet Metal property on South Broadway are officially here.

The demolition event kicked off at 11 a.m. at 402 South Broadway in Green Bay as officials gathered to discuss the purpose of the demolition, which is to redevelop the area into a three-story fire station and a variety of other projects.

The new Green Bay Metro Fire Station, which would be on the redeveloped land, is planned out as a state-of-the-art three-story building to combine operations from older facilities into a much nicer and newer one. It is planned to feature six bay doors and drive-through potential.

In addition to the station, the plans call for 85 affordable housing units that will be designated for households that earn 30%, 60% and 80% of the median income for the area. These units would feature one to three bedrooms…
