3 tornadoes confirmed north of Green Bay; 2 were in Oconto County

The National Weather Service Green Bay has confirmed two tornadoes touched down July 23 in Oconto County and one in Menominee County.

Rain and high winds spawned thunderstorm and tornado warnings in the early evening July 23 in northeastern Wisconsin.

Here are the details from the National Weather Service:

  • At 5:15 p.m., an EF1 tornado touched down in Keshena area. Winds peaked at 90 mph as it was on the ground for 7.4 miles.
  • At 5:37 p.m., an EF1 tornado touched down near Gillett in the town of Underhill. It was on the ground for 2.3 miles. “The tornado tore the roof of a metal building, uplifted and damaged the roof of a nearby building, and snapped and uprooted several trees before dissipating east of Gillett.”
  • At 6 p.m., an EF0 tornado hit west of Oconto and was on the ground for 2.4 miles. “The tornado snapped and uprooted several trees before dissipating just north of Oconto. … The tornado uprooted several trees at a local golf course northwest of Oconto.”
