DOOR COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) – A line of severe storms on Saturday afternoon triggered tornado warnings and knocked power out for tens of thousands around the Bay of Green Bay.
At around 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for southwestern Brown and north-central Calumet counties because of storms capable of producing tornadoes and damaging winds. They would cancel it about 10 minutes later, but severe thunderstorm warnings stayed active in the same area as well as throughout Door County.
The storms generated reports of damaging wind gusts from Wautoma to Ellison Bay. Hours after the storm, WPS still showed over 12,000 customers without power, with many along the east side of the Bay of Green Bay, and We Energies showed nearly 14,000 customers without power, though the majority of those outages stem from the Milwaukee area…
