Former Island Sushi owner speaks out after abrupt closures

APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – After the sudden closure of both Island Sushi locations in De Pere and Appleton, the restaurant’s original owner is speaking out.

In a social media post, the former owner said the business was thriving until new ownership took over in 2024. She claims the new owners abruptly closed both locations without warning to staff or customers and have since been unresponsive to inquiries.

“It is extremely sad to see the end of Island Sushi for a lot of us,” she wrote.

The original owner also addressed customers with gift cards, asking them to hold onto them in hopes of working out a solution…
