Green Bay woman arrested for forging checks from deceased Vernon County man’s account

VIROQUA, Wis. (WKBT) — A Green Bay woman faces multiple charges after authorities say she wrote checks from the bank account of a man who died more than a year ago.

According to Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson, Megan Marion Strait, 32, was arrested Tuesday afternoon at the sheriff’s office when she arrived to retrieve an impounded vehicle from an unrelated matter. The arrest concluded a months-long investigation that began in June when authorities received reports of forged checks in a neighboring area.
