City of Oconto hears public opinions on container ordinance

OCONTO – A new ordinance banning shipping containers in the City of Oconto hasn’t been enforced yet, but it should be as soon as is practical, council members said at the Aug. 19 city council meeting after hearing complaints about the ordinance.

In unanimously approving a motion for city employees to work with shipping-container owners, they instructed Jeremy Wusterbarth, superintendent of public works and parks and Building Inspector Joe Last to meet individually with the owners and work out a plan for removing the containers from the city that may extend the 60-day deadline.

All City Council members attended the meeting, including Alders Darrell Anderson, Kim Bronikowski, Ron Daul, Dee Donlevy, Bob LeBreck, Casey Sowle, Lori Stenstrup, and Dan Zoeller.
