GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Night sky watchers are in for a treat tonight as the Hunter’s Moon, the first supermoon of 2025, rises over northeast Wisconsin.
According to the City of Green Bay, the moon will appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than usual, reaching peak illumination at 4:48 a.m. Tuesday but glowing beautifully throughout Monday night.
Known as the Hunter’s Moon, this bright autumn full moon was traditionally a signal for Indigenous peoples and early farmers to prepare for winters, hunting by the extra moonlight after the harvest.
