Witnesses rescue driver from Oconto River after SUV goes into waters

OCONTO, Wis. (WFRV) – Witnesses rescued the driver of an SUV on Friday evening after the vehicle went into the Oconto River.

According to the Oconto Fire Rescue Department, dispatch got word of a vehicle in the Oconto River near McDonald Street and Smith Avenue around 4:50 p.m. on October 24.

At the time of the call, it was reported that three people were in the water with another potentially trapped in the SUV.

Fire damages garage in Fond du Lac, no injuries reported

Crews arrived to find the SUV near the bridge at Smith Avenue, and three people were getting out of the water. First responders immediately began searching for anyone else who may have still been in the vehicle…
