Former Thornberry Creek golf professional, Barstool Sports personality Cody “Beef” Franke dies at 31

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) — Cody “Beef” Franke, a Barstool Sports personality and PGA of America Golf Professional at Thornberry Creek in Green Bay, died at the age of 31 after a sudden medical issue over the weekend.

Franke was attending a wedding in the Dominican Republic when he experienced the medical emergency.

At Thornberry Creek, Franke was known for his weekly Tip Tuesday series, which went viral on social media and helped teach golf to hundreds of players. Over his eight years as a PGA member, he earned two PGA section awards and assisted more than 500 students in learning the game, according to Barstool Sports.

“We are beyond devastated to announce that our good friend and cherished Barstool Sports colleague, Cody ‘Beef’ Franke, passed away from a sudden medical issue over the weekend,” said Barstool’s Fore Play podcast team, which Franke was part of.

Barstool founder Dave Portnoy also paid tribute, saying, “You will never find a nicer, more genuine person than Beef. It’s hard to even process it right now.”…
