31-year-old accused of 2024 stabbing in Green Bay has jury trial pushed back with added dates

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The 31-year-old Greenfield man charged with attempted first-degree homicide for a stabbing in December 2024 had his jury trial dates pushed back to early in 2026, with additional dates set.

Court records show that 31-year-old Jaharrie Jelks was in court on Wednesday for what was initially set as the first of a two-day jury trial for his alleged involvement in a December 2024 stabbing in Green Bay.

Jelks is still facing the following charges, with possible punishments listed for each (if he were to be convicted):

  • Attempted First-Degree Intentional Homicide – Repeater, Use of a Dangerous Weapon
    • Class B Felony – Up to 60 years in prison
  • False Imprisonment – Repeater, Use of a Dangerous Weapon
    • Class H Felony – Up to six years in prison and/or $10,000 fine
  • Disorderly Conduct – Repeater, Use of a Dangerous Weapon
    • Class B Misdemeanor – Up to 90 days in prison and/or $1,000 fine
  • Bail Jumping – Repeater
    • Class A Misdemeanor – Up to nine months in prison and/or $10,000 fine
  • Driving or Operating a Vehicle Without Owner’s Consent – Repeater
    • Class I Felony – Up to 3.5 years in prison and/or $10,000 fine
  • Armed Robbery with Threat of Force– Repeater
    • Class C Felony – Up to 40 years in prison and/or $100,000 in fines

Should Jelks be convicted, state law says that repeater modifiers could add up to years in prison per charge and that the dangerous weapon charge could increase a sentence by up to five years.

The case against Jelks had been dismissed without prejudice, but prosecutors quickly refiled the charges in mid-July of 2025…
