DE PERE, Wis. — Childhood obesity is now a global crisis. One in five school-age children and adolescents aged 5–19 years is overweight, according to a United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) report.
The Wisconsin Department of Health reports nearly 19 % of children ages 6 to 17 are obese with BMIs at or above the 95th percentile. Roughly 31% of children ages 10 to 17 are overweight.
