Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport creates food pantry to support unpaid federal workers

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – As the government shutdown continues, federal workers at Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport are showing up to work, but without a paycheck.

Food service provider to layoff 150+ due to end of contract with University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh

Due to nearly 50 federal workers being affected by a delay in paychecks, the airport has created a makeshift food pantry to support workers during this unprecedented time.

“We are offering a pantry here at the airport so our local TSA, FAA and Customs can come in and do some shopping and be able to have food,” Delta Airlines Station Manager Sandie Samuelson said.

The pantry is stocked with canned goods, pasta and other non-perishable items…
