(WFRV) – Amidst a rise in families visiting food pantries with uncertainty around the government shutdown and SNAP benefits, Hy-Vee is allowing customers to help out as well.
Key Club at De Pere High School helped put together care packages for local Veterans
As of Wednesday, Hy-Vee customers will have the option to round up their purchases at checkout to the nearest dollar, with all collected funds going to a local food pantry in each store’s community.
A week ago, Hy-Vee donated $100,000 to Feeding America in support of the 18 regional food banks, and this new effort will also benefit pantries that help feed community members.
Hy-Vee is also running a food drive to support pantries in all of its locations, with customers able to purchase donation bundles that pantries critically need. Stores then deliver these bags to local pantries daily…
