Green Bay’s Plan Commission on Nov. 17 unanimously declined to back what was the last contentious suggestion for short-term rental operators at regulating their industry.
A cap on operations of short-term rentals at 180 days out of the year was a well-meaning suggestion from the Equal Rights Commission, but would be ineffective at both of its goals: getting more affordable housing on the market and ridding the city of nuisance properties, often dubbed party homes, commissioners said.
“I really feel like we’re punishing the good owners because of the bad owners,” said commission Chair Lisa Hanson who later added, “We’ve known this is the problem for a long time. We have to find a solution, but this is not the solution.”…
