SMALL TOWNS: 83-year-old keeps Christmas tree tradition alive after 67 years

CASCO, Wis. (WBAY) — On the left side at the end of dead end Burke Avenue in small town Casco, you’ll find a tree lot that has been a Kewaunee County staple for almost seven decades.

Eighty-three-year-old Fenton “Finny” Wiericks has made growing and selling Christmas trees on his family land his passion for 67 years. Driven by a love for the holidays and community, Finny has built a business centered on giving back.

“It’s a special time for people, families getting together. Through the years, no person left here without a tree that couldn’t afford one,” Finny said. “If you can afford it, we’ve got bills to pay too. That’s life.”…
