GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – A longtime member of the Green Bay Metro Fire Department is hanging up the equipment as he looks forward to a life after service with family and traveling.

The department announced that Friday morning was the final time that Captain Kevin Pischke will exit Station 8 as a servicemember, but his legacy will last forever, just like his family’s.
Captain Pischke served for 26 years, starting as an EMT-basic on April 1, 1997, and before his time with the GBMFD, he served with multiple other fire departments:
- Wayside Volunteer Fire Department – Three years
- Bellevue Volunteer Fire Department – Two years
- Austin Straubel International Airport Fire Department – One year
- Menominee Fire Department – Three years
He’s also worked at other stations here, climbing the ranks to his position as a Captain, which he was promoted to in December 2022.
Capt. Pischke will leave more than just his own legacy, as his time with the department continued his family’s dedication to service—his father, uncle and cousin also served as volunteer firefighters.
Captain Pischke is one of two second-generation family members in the fire service, and there are two third-generation Pischkes currently serving as volunteer firefighters, as the family accounts for over 150 years of combined service in Brown County…
