Friday is now a First Alert Weather Day. A winter system is on its way bringing us a mix of wintry precipitation. Temperatures will be warm enough for the majority of us to see rain. However, north and west of the Fox Valley will see freezing rain. This system will arrive late Thursday night, lasting overnight. Up to 1/10” of ice accumulation will leave a glaze on the roads, causing tricky travel. Meanwhile a slushy inch or two of snow is possible along the Upper Michigan border. Any rain, freezing rain, or snow will be ending late Friday morning.
More significant changes arrive on Sunday, when a cold front arrives. As the cold air moves in, scattered showers could develop, likely starting as rain and transitioning to snow. Strong west winds arrive late, gusting around 40 mph. Temperatures will fall into the teens by Monday morning. Subzero wind chills will be possible.
