Citizens Academy offers behind-the-badge look inside Brown County Sheriff’s Office

BROWN COUNTY (WLUK) — If you’ve ever wanted to get a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at local law enforcement, here’s your chance.

Applications are now open for the 2026 Citizens Academy, hosted by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office. The program is available to all Brown County residents who are 18 or older; no prior police experience is needed.

Participants will learn about:

  • Patrol operations and traffic enforcement
  • Jail operations and inmate management
  • Criminal investigations and evidence handling
  • K9 and specialty unit demonstrations
  • Use-of-force training and simulations
  • Community policing and crime prevention
