Green Bay composting service keeps more than 127,000 pounds of waste out of landfills

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – A Green Bay-based composting company says it kept tens of thousands of pounds of food waste out of Northeast Wisconsin landfills in 2025.

From a social media post, Greener Bay Compost announced it diverted 127,297 pounds, or about 63 tons, of food waste and organic materials from area landfills during the 2025 calendar year.

That’s enough food waste to blanket the Lambeau Field turf, but only about an inch deep.

Greener Bay Compost provides compost pickup services in the Green Bay and Fox Cities areas and operates what it says is the region’s only commercial compost facility focused specifically on food waste. The company also sells nutrient-rich, contaminant-free compost year-round.
