Part of South Adams Street will be closed off to parking, south traffic for over six months

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The City of Green Bay’s Public Works Department is warning drivers that part of South Adams Street will be closed for much of the year.

According to a release, the closure will be between Doty and Stuart Streets on South Adams, as drivers won’t be able to park or head south on the road from 7 a.m. on Monday, January 12, until at least 5 p.m. on Friday, August 28.

The closure is part of a sewer project by NEW Water, part of the Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District, which seeks to continue its Downtown Interceptors Renewal Project.

According to a release, the full project is about $29 million, funded by wholesale rates from NEW Water, as improvements to revitalize the aging infrastructure are crucial.

Officials say business and residential access will not be closed off, and that all of the closures, detours and operations could be changed by the weather. Drivers are urged to be extra cautious in the area, anticipate backups and find alternate routes if possible…
