Green Bay man charged with hate crime and threatening officers

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – A man is facing multiple serious charges, some with hate-crime enhancements, after authorities said he used racial slurs and threatened police officers arresting him.

James Petras, 56, was arrested following an incident at Colburn Park on January 2.

The incident started after a Black man called police to report Petras approached him while he was in his vehicle, used racial slurs, and pointed a handgun at him. The witness reported Petras said, “I’ll kill you all of you mother [expletive].” The witness told police Petras used the n-word multiple times. The witness drove to a nearby gas station to call 911…
